Score prospects before outreach

ICP scoring and account scoring answer a question that lead scoring never asks: which accounts and contacts should we approach in the first place? StrykePoint scores prospects on fit, observable evidence, and contactability — before a single message is sent.

Lead scoring and prospect scoring are different jobs

Lead scoring operates on demand you already have. Someone filled in a form, opened a series of emails, or visited a pricing page, and the model ranks which of those known leads deserves sales attention now. It is a triage layer for inbound.

Prospect and account scoring operate before demand exists. Nobody raised their hand. The question is which accounts in a market are worth spending outbound effort on, and in what order. That decision has to be made from what can be observed about a business, not from behaviour it has not produced yet.

The two use similar vocabulary and solve opposite problems. StrykePoint is built for the second one.

What an ICP scoring model has to account for

  1. 01
    Fit

How closely the account matches the definition of the business you actually serve — category, size profile, geography, and the shape of the work you sell.

  2. 02
    Evidence

What is observably true about the account right now, gathered from public sources and recorded with its origin so the score can be inspected.

  3. 03
    Completeness

How much is genuinely known. A thin record and a rich record should never produce the same confidence, and Evidence Completeness keeps that distinction visible.

  4. 04
    Contactability

Whether a real, verified path to a relevant person exists. An ideal-fit account with no reachable contact is not a prospect yet.

How StrykePoint implements it

  • Scout discovers accounts that match your definition rather than starting from a static purchased list.
  • Signals are collected per account and stored with their source, so evidence is attached to the record.
  • StrykeScore combines fit and evidence into a single ranking you can open and interrogate.
  • Evidence Completeness reports how much of the picture is filled in.
  • Contact enrichment and verification establish whether the account can actually be reached.
  • Stryke Angle builds the opening from that account's evidence, and outreach goes out through a controlled sending workflow.

The practical effect on outbound is order. You are not sending more; you are sending in the sequence your own evidence justifies, and stopping where it does not.

When a score should not be acted on

A score can be high and still be the wrong basis for a send — because the evidence behind it is thin, because the contact cannot be reached, or because sending is not authorised at all. Those conditions have different remedies, and our reference on why prospects fail scoring sets out the nine of them.

Where teams apply it

Agencies use it to decide which businesses in a market deserve a pitch — see SEO agencies and web design agencies. Teams replacing a database-first prospecting tool usually arrive from the other direction; that comparison is on Apollo alternative.

Decide who to approach, with the evidence attached

Every StrykePoint workspace includes discovery, scoring, contact verification, and outreach. Capacity is metered in scored contacts.
